Losing custody  of your child so they can receive the help that they need. The insurance companies pay 30 days for a residential hospital  / center that costs at least  $1300 dollars  a. DAY.  When or if your child gets better you can't get them back.  Many syndromes have mental illnesses like 22Q.  It takes an average of 6 to 9 months  to get the right medications . Families of these children deal with not  only their childs voices, fears, delusions  and  being alone plus the lack of correct information for the public.  The stigma alone is bad and incorrect.  I know how hard it was.and how you cry for your child while having to be on alert 24 hours a day / 7 day a week.   My child  was and is so funny , sweet and  very innocent and when the voices hit we were totally unprepared.  The Children 's hospital  we went to was full so they gave us drugs to sedate him until they had an opening.   There is so much more but all I ask is parents to get help  and be educated about what could happen if they have a chance of mental illnesses..  Please help families with their children.  My child after almost a year got helpand is functioning so much better that he graduated from high school with honors in special education.   Lets get busy  and have a good support  for them. Please stop the stigma of  mental illness and lets start mental health.
