The LPS dress code promotes rape culture and victim blaming! Young girls are told to "cover up" so they don't distract the men in class, but the only thing the LPS dress code "covers up" is their lack of discipline for male staff and students!

As a female student who goes to school in the LPS district, I have been told countless times that my outfits are deemed "distracting", even if my outfits aren't violating the school dress code. That is sexualizing a minor! I am often told by male teachers to "cover up" because I am distracting them. The only thing distracting these teachers is their perverted thoughts!

LPS dress code also targets those with more mature bodies. You can get away with wearing a "spaghetti strap" top if you're flat chested, but if you have a larger chest, you might as well forget about it because an administrator WILL hold you in the office until you agree to change clothes. If the dress code is supposed to help make schools a better learning environment, why are we holding young girls in the office for hours and taking away their education so the men in the building aren't "distracted"?

Students in LPS should be able to express themselves and wear what they want to wear. We are not asking to get rid of the dress code, we are asking for reform!
