Central Square Schools Need a Plan for the Future

As parents and taxpayers of the Central Square School District we were shocked to find that 5 members of the board voted to re-open Cleveland Elementary and to close the Central Square Middle School without providing any advance notice to district residents, or a coherent plan outlining how these actions will impact the district.

While we understand that change is needed, we need to investigate all the available options, then develop and publish a plan of action that outlines:

1. The proposed changes and their impact on our students.
2. The financial impact those changes would have on the district.
3. The reasons that the proposed plan is the best for the district.
4. How the proposed plan compares to other available options.

Thus far none of these questions have been answered, yet this decision has apparently already been made over the objections of both the community and 4 of our board members.

We respectfully request that the premature motions passed at the board meeting on April 4th be rescinded, so we can resume the process of reviewing the available options and determining the best course for the future of our district.
