1 in 6 couples in Canada suffer from infertility. It is a silent epidemic that is growing, and doesn't have adequate coverage in our health care system. 

My name is Erica Baumgart, my partner, Colin Hall, and I have been struggling with infertility thanks to my diagnosis of Diminishing Ovarian Reserve.

With one blood test called AMH (Anti Mullerian Hormone - which is not OHIP covered) costing only $70, and never offered to me until I was seeking Fertility Clinic help, I learned I am running out of eggs at only age 36.

We are told as young women to have a career, and you can have kids later. There is a cost to this, and that's Fertility treatments which are not covered in Canada. Ontario offers some coverage but the wait lists are 18+ months long for OHIP Funded IVF.

The drugs for IVF will cost us $6,000 minimum out of pocket. Per Round. With low ovarian reserve, I'll need multiple rounds.

Each round is minimum $16,000 - $25,000 in Ontario.

While we don't expect the National Pharmacare Program to include 100% coverage of these drugs, if even 5% or 10% was covered, it would allow the government to have bulk buying power to help reduce the out of pocket costs for those like us without drug coverage through work. 

Most private drug plans don't cover Fertility medications anyways, (unless you happen to work for the federal government! )

One of my medications for IVF is $400+ a day, that same drug in other countries with national Pharmacare is as low as $40. It is possible to lower these costs with your help! Let's tell the government we need more coverage for infertility!
