Why this petition matters

Implanon is ruining and threatening lives. The more women who have tried Implanon and had adverse reactions to this contraception device the more I am convinced!

Please read, share and sign! If it had been just me that experienced this I wouldn't bother. but the more I speak to other women about their experiences, the more I have realised this needs to happen! I and many women have had major medical and mental health issues from its use. Many who have had ZERO mental health issues before its use and have become seriously ill. Not to mention they are often being told by their doctor they can’t get it removed even when violently ill, or seriously mentally ill from It, it makes it very dangerous.

My personal story in brief: I have BPD & PTSD and have been on medications successfully managing that for many years. I have been on the SAME medication for over 6 years with great success thanks to the management of my Psychiatrist. Suddenly I developed an allergic reaction to my medications. Now, after the better part of three years struggling to get medications to work anymore (been working fine for six years before I got the implant) I got it removed and within DAYS my mental health medications began working as they should and my emotions are back to levels I can handle. Do NOT get implanon ladies! I have now talked to so many who have only had horrible experiences! I have not spoken to many, if ANY women who have not had serious mental health repercussion and/or physical health repercussions from this contraceptive method. It is not safe as it is for our women to use!

1. There needs to either be a ban on its use, or a carefully laid out plan of follow up and medical and mental health checks during its use.

2. There also needs to be better documentation and awareness of these issues being so common. At present it is not listed as a common side effect or at all.
