Lucy Brockman started this petition to Melbourne City Council

We believe that in Melbourne we need more statues/ sculptures of women or to commemorate people through sculpture. We have found a number of Melbourne women who deserve this such as:
- Lilian Helen Alexander who was an Australian surgeon and one of the first women to study medicine at the University of Melbourne.

- Elizabeth Alfred who was the first woman priest of Melbourne

- Rowena Allen was appointed as Victoria's first gender and sexuality commissioner.

- Alma Thorpe helped establish the Victorian Aboriginal Health Service

- Julia Gillard was the first woman Prime Minister

- Joan Kirner was the first Victorian female premier

- Louise Mack was a poet journalist and novelist during World War 1

- Rosie Batty is a domestic violence campaigner and the 2015 Australian of the Year

These are some women who have had big impact on Melbourne but are still not commemorated as much as dead, white men are through sculpture.
