FIX THE ARDEN ST FOOTBRIDGE

The old Arden St footbridge over the Craigieburn Railway Line is unsafe and needs to be fixed for improved pedestrian and cyclist accessibility between inner west suburbs of Footscray and Kensington to North Melbourne and the CBD.

Accessibility to:

North Melbourne Aquatic and Fitness Centre, Melbourne University, Royal Melbourne Hospital, North Melbourne shops

Reports from 2003 suggest the Bridge has been in disrepair for many years and is overdue to improvement. This bridge and stairway provides insufficient disabled access and is basically inaccessible for parents with prams.

This is a key connection point as currently cyclists and pedestrians are using the Lloyd St business estate as a way around the stairs - which is neither appropriate as this is a private business estate and also unsafe as there are no dedicated footpaths or cycle lanes.
