Emma Sandford started this petition to Melbourne Airport

Plastic is not fantastic.

Our precious waterways are clogged with it. Every day, 8 million pieces of plastic end up in our oceans, killing an estimated 100 million marine creatures each year. Every time I visit a beach, I pick up as much plastic rubbish as I can, but it's a losing battle.

We have to stop plastic pollution at its source. As consumers, we are the source. We have the power to say no to single-use, disposable plastics like water bottles. We have the power to switch to reusable stainless steel bottles that we can refill over and over with our awesome Melbourne tap water to take with us on our travels.

San Francisco international airport (SFO) has just announced it will ban all sales of plastic water bottles from 20 August this year. It's installed nearly 100 water-bottle filling stations and implemented other waste-saving measures at its eateries.

Melbourne, let's say 'NO' to throwaway convenience and plastic pollution; let's say 'YES' to saving our beautiful oceans and marine life.

Let's tell Melbourne Airport we want it to take a stand on this issue and ban all sales of plastic water bottles on its premises.
