Question around Duty of Care
The slashing of the dedicated School Bus Services will have a major impact on hundreds (if not thousands) of families in Canberra. One of the concerns that has not been adequately addressed is around Duty of Care. When a child is at school, the school and it’s staff is responsible for the Duty of Care of that child at that time. When a child is on a bus, the bus driver has the responsibility of Duty of Care of that child at that time. Who then will have the Duty of Care of a child when the child is trying to catch connecting buses? Who then will have the Duty of Care of a child as they cross major roads trying to get to school/home. Who then will have the Duty of Care of a child at a major bus interchange?
We need to think about this. We need to discuss this. We need the Ministers to thoroughly think about this.
