As a Type I diabetic for 58 years Medicare refuses to help pay for these devices, but can the Congress please tell me why did my husband's insurance Blue Cross/Blue Shield Insurance pay 90% of the cost for these devices before I turned 65?

Being a type one diabetic for 37 years and developing hypoglycimic unawarness the continuous glucose monitor has been a life saver for me. I could not imagine not having one. My A1C has been normal with will slow down or eliminate complications over time.

I have insulin dependent diabetes and for many of us, the symptoms of a low blood sugar are easily missed. My continuous glucose monitor allows me to see trends and catch my lows and my highs early enough to prevent most of them. The highs can cause horribly expensive and painful complications. I've been controlling my diabetes for years, and the use of my cgm has been an integral part of this process, one that has allowed me to concentrate on other things--to be able to contribute to society in a useful manner and to be able to avoid the complications. Other insurances have covered these for years, so it is time for Medicare to do so, as well.

It is unfathomable to me that this is not already covered. Disgusting.

Diabetic for over 50 years, and coming up on Medicare age. This is a necessary tool for us to take care of ourselves. This will save other lives as it tells someone while driving they are going low. This is a great tool for many reasons.

I'm a signing this because I believe every diabetic should have access to whatever benefits they need.
