Why this petition matters

People’s lives are somehow a cycle wherein they are all born in order to die again. After that, they live again and fall once more. Every one of us goes through life fearing our fate which in the end is always death. A large number of population, definitely think that death and either just the thought of it brings a chill down into their spine since they are fear-ridden. Clearly, death is inevitable. Simply, it is bound to happen, and no one knows when exactly the inevitable will approach, but somehow it could be prolonged. On the other hand, there are some people who want death as early as they want due to the fact that they experience intolerable suffering. Due to advancements of technology and medicine fields, a medical process of ending an individual’s life has been introduced, which is called euthanasia. Even after it was introduced, a number of people are still against it. Many different things charge the debate surrounding this emotional and usually controversial issue that triggers immediate intense reaction. Moreover, unbearable illnesses that a patient could experience could want them to be euthanized. Is it really good when death doesn’t come natural as it is? And for the golden question, shall euthanasia always be impermissible?

To begin with, most of the people live with terminal illnesses, who are racked in pain. The pain could weaken a person, and in this manner it gives them thoughts that they already want to end this suffering. There is a certain way to stop theirs and their family’s suffering. One advantage of euthanasia is to end someone’s suffering and somehow die with dignity as they say. It allows people to get rid of any physical pain. Furthermore, they value the ability to control their life decisions until the very end which is called freedom of choice.

On the other hand, every one of us all knows that killing is killing. Even though there is a specific reason for this occurrence, still, it is murder. Clearly stated, euthanasia violates almost all religion, and provokes opposition to the devout religious people. It is certainly true that the most debatable issue in euthanasia is religion. Most religions have very strict views on ending a person’s life object and opposes to the idea of euthanasia. Only God knows how and when a specific person will die. Thus, it simply creates a bigger problem between the Church and whoever agrees with the idea of euthanasia, and social stability will be a threat.

In addition, euthanasia poses a threat to the patient itself since it would weaken his will to live. The process of euthanasia is against to a specific saying wherein “when there is life, there is hope”. There are several factors in which it could be seen to weaken the persons’ will to live. However, euthanasia would take it away. Others believe that euthanasia represents the freedom of a person and the salvation of dignity when he dies. In fact, it exposes impotence of one’s character since he is unable to confront himself and lacks confidence. Thus, it results to the alteration of fate and dismiss the thought of goodwill.

Lastly, euthanasia could easily be abused by relatives, doctors, and mostly the government. Society would face the fact that someone with evil doings will take advantage of this scary loophole. It could be their relatives itself especially when the family experiences financial problem and all that they think of a solution is euthanasia. It is clearly possible that they would resort to euthanasia in order to get rid of the burden that they will carry.

Doctors should not agree to euthanasia even if it is a family decision. As doctors, their duty is to save lives and not to kill. Even if their patient is brain dead they should still consider the fact the fact that the heart isn’t stopping yet and there is no other reason for doctors to stop doing everything that they can do. They die when they die but a doctor doesn’t kill and doctor does his/her duty to save lives.

To sum it up, it is seen that euthanasia is indeed a scary act that helps people die. Basically, it promotes abuse since it gives doctors that chance to do evil act including murder. Also, it contradicts to the beliefs of the Church. Furthermore, there are a lot of choices that are clearly much better than to choosing euthanasia. It hinders one’s care for the dying and could come up for far larger social problems. Meanwhile, this can be mitigated by different alternatives like requiring life insurance carriers to offer benefit payments to the person who have been diagnosed with terminal illnesses. As what is stated from the passage above, it is certainly true that euthanasia shall never be acceptable.
