I noticed that during police training the new cadets are trained to use they're firearms for more than 60 hours and 52 hours for self defense but only 8 hours is spent on deescalating situations and that doesn't seem right because the person could have a mental illness and yelling and screaming at the person to drop a weapon could make them hurt themselves more, the point of this petition isn't just for helping out people with mental illnesses in the future. It's also to share that black people are being wrongfully killed by police almost everyday now and black lives matter isn't just a hashtag or a trend and it shouldn't be treated as one, people always go straight to what about white people they get shot more, and yes that's true but black people are 3X more likely to be shot despite only making up 13% of the u.s population, and it's also not to promote defunding the police in Minneapolis because that does more harm than good because we don't want to have another Trayvon martin case 

The point of this petition is to have new cadets have more than just 60 training hours because it isn't enough, that's not even three days worth of hours training and the police are supposed to serve and protect but lately all they've done is harm.
