Qulliit Nunavut Status of Women Council requests revoking Haulli Queen's Jubilee award

0 have signed. Let’s get to 500!

Qulliit’s council members are expressing outrage at the conduct of Ike Haulli of Igloolik, Nunavut. Haulli’s violent, predatory and calculated behaviour was heinous. By referring to his crimes as mistakes he attempted to minimize his acts of traumatizing violence.

We call on all Northerners to protect and support those vulnerable to the violent actions of some men and boys. To say they know better is a mistake, to say they need help is true, to say they should be held accountable for their wrongdoing is also true.

Haulli is a recipient of the Queen’s Jubilee and Qulliit has asked for this to be revoked. Please support our request by writing or signing this petition for its cancellation.

We applaud all the women and girls who have so courageously come forward, who have been victimized by these violent acts. We stand with you against these crimes and this injustice.

We all need to stand up to violence against women and girls everywhere. We can’t continue to blame the past and using it as an excuse to do terrible things today.

Thank you to all who support and assist those who have or are enduring violence. We commend you and hope one day all this violence will end.
