Mulimisi Raswiswi started this petition to MEC of Public Works and Roads in the Limpopo Provincial Government and

The communities of the backwayers ofMukondeni, haLambani, haMulima and haMuila continue to bear the brunt of poor political leaderdhip, incompetence and corruption in that the tarring of the main road between Mashamba and Soekmekaar has been a stop go affair from the get go. So far not less than 3 MEC have visited the road tarring project, made undertakings which to this day have not been met.

Before August 2020 we submitted a petitition to the new MEC and threatened the mother of all protests if the road tarring projected was not resumed within the stated timeframes. The new MEC for Public Works and Roads in the Limpopo Provincial Government thereafter visited the project, confirmed that the contractor would be back to work on the project to complete the intial 11km of the project and as far as the remaining 33 km were concerned, he would come back to us. We thought he was a man of his word. How wrong we were! Talk is cheap.

This time around we are going to ensure that our mother of all protest will occur, come rain or shine. We have given the provincial government enough time to attend to the completion of the road tarring project and they have treated us with disdain. This time around there is no stopping us.

We are attaching these touching picture of the hardships we go through during the rainy seasons being the interruption of schooling and other economic activities because we are stuck in our villages, public transport gets stuck in the mud, ambulances  cannot reach those that are critically ill, those that have been infected by Covid 19.  Those that are on chronic medication cant reach pharmacies, clinics and hospitals to get treatment or collect their medication.

Twenty-five years into the majority rule consitutional democracy we are still encountering challenges of untarred slippery roads.

Enough is enough! Family and friends I implore you to sign this petition so we can get the road tarring project completed. Let us make it our mission that this is the last time we drive on muddy slippery roads.
