Peter Whelan started this petition to Meath County Council

We want to have the parochial house in slane brought back to its former state .this Georgian building is one of many listed buildings in our heritage village . Meath county council planning authority have given permission many years ago to developers who promised to restore this beautiful building . The parochial house is one of four Georgian houses built at the square in slane , and they uniquely form  an octagon. They were built in the 1700s and  are of great interest to many international and National tourists . The parochial house at present has rotten hoarding around it and scaffolding that is there many years now with no progress of restoration. It is an eyesore and an insult to the many volunteers in slane tidy towns and the people of slane and meath . We demand a meeting with planners in Meath county council to reassure us the people of slane that this work will restart as promised by the applicants who were granted permission by meath county council . We want to send a message to developers and planners that we in slane are fed up with buildings being bought up just to close them down . This development is one of many in slane that have buildings boarded up .
