Laidley State High School Year 12 Students: Graduation Song = All-Star + Bel-Air Mashup

Our Cohort requires a memorable song, not the generic "goodbye", depressing or super uplifting song. I feel that this song encompasses the transitioning that a lot of people will have to do in the future, whether it be university or a job. It also compliments the past,  the former phantom of ourselves who have been reincarnated into us in the now. We have moved on and the Fresh Prince of Bel-Air theme song compliments this.

Now, even though people who really analyse All-Star say it coincides with going against celebrity glorification, the media, the government and war, All-Star is overall an uplifting song. "Hey now, you're an All-Star!" is an uplifting line and can be interpreted in many ways. It also links to our childhood I feel, because when someone thinks about All-Star, they think about our favourite green machine: Shrek. It's a reference to our youth.

NOTE: This is even more valid because I did my own little experiment where i asked grade 7 children who Shrek was, their reply: "who is Shrek?".

I have met a few people who really like the idea but it would be good to have a petition to present to the organiser. It is recommended that students who like the mashup put their name in so we can have a worth‐while graduation. Make the dream become a reality, deep down you know this is what our cohort needs!
