Let MCSS have 3 elective lines!
At MCSS the students were able to choose two electives and one language. But in 2022 the staff have changed the ways that we can select electives and now we are only able to choose two of either electives or languages. We want this to change. The MCSS students want the option to have one language and two electives. The students should have the option to learn a new language without having to sacrifice the ability to learn new skills. The more you utilise your brain to master new abilities, the more the functions of your brain are activated. When you learn a new language, your brain is forced to learn new grammar and vocabulary rules. It helps you to hone your memory by teaching it to recall new words, establish connections between them, and apply them in context. Multitasking and time management are two talents that will always come in handy. Multilingual people have the capacity to transition between languages. Multitasking is aided by their capacity to think in several languages and communicate in multiple languages. Immersion in a language learning setting entails more than just learning the fundamentals of the language. It entails learning how to converse in a different language with your classmates or taking part in extracurricular activities in that language. We can see language should be a vital part of our learning and should not be compromised. Electives should be just as important as our core subjects. They provide students with the autonomy that they need as an adult. They train students in the skills that they require in life along with their hobbies and interests. A school is already a place where children are easily bored, this change is taking away a core part of our learning along with student intrests. We need to have our three lines back. We should not be compromising on our students learning.
