Radnor is NOT an Option

This is not about making a decision regarding building while the school operations remain on-site versus off-site during the construction process; this is about being placed in an appropriate holding facility if it is necessary for us to go to one. Radnor is NOT a viable option for our children. Consider this:
Do you want your child on the school bus for over an hour (under the best of traffic and weather circumstances) every morning to get to school?
Do you want your child on the school bus for over an hour every afternoon (evening) with rush hour traffic up River Road to get home?
Do you want your child in a building that has no gym and an All Purpose Room that can only hold one grade per lunch at a time, which means that on cold or rainy or snowy days, there is no opportunity for the children to stretch their legs or have PE?
Do you want your child going to a school facility that does not have enough parking spaces for the staff, let alone any adjacent street parking so that if you need to pick your child up early or drop your child off late, you have to park down the block?
Do you want your child going to a school facility that does not have adequate space for a carpool line yet the bus service will not get the students home until after 5pm so your child will not be able to get to any appointments, religious school, extracurricular activities or sporting practices without having to be pulled out of class before school is over?
Do you want your child in a learning environment where other students are arriving late or being called down to the office to be dismissed early on a daily basis because the bus won't get them home before 5pm?
Do you want your child having no time for any play dates or outside of school activities for one and a half school years?
Do you want your child going in and out of the main building to go to the classes in portables away from the school, on a field that has multiple open access points to nearby houses and woods?
If you answered no to any of the questions above, please sign this petition to let MCPS and the MCPS Board of Education know that Radnor is NOT an option for the students of Potomac ES.
It is not in the best interests of our children's social, emotional, and physical health to be sent to the Radnor facility during construction. These are precious years of the children's lives that are crucial to their educational development.
If you agree that Radnor is not the right facility for the students of Potomac ES, please sign this petition by March 15th, 2017. We would like to work with MCPS and the BOE to find an alternative that would provide a better educational experience, be safer for our children and cause less disruption to the lives of the families of Potomac ES.
