The MCPHS class of 2024 is requesting the removal of a new Naplex application program 

Term requested: IPPE off block in summer of 2022

On June 30th, 2022, Dr. Bellevue sent out a class wide email in regard to a mandatory Program update session that was held on Monday July 11th, 2022. In the email contained information about the session along with information about a new program application.  After reading the email it became clear that most class members were not aware of this new application program being implemented nor was it divulged to us as a new incoming class. The program is a Naplex performance application that requires student to virtually attend class on the only little time off they are allocated. Most students have already made plans in regard to their break for their mental health. Students are now being forced to participate in a class on their time off. This was not a previous requirement in the program. 

The application program will be conducted through zoom on specific dates and time with a duration period of 20-25 hours every week for 2 weeks. There are no credits associated with this program that requires participation, pre-reading assignments and completion of 3 blackboard assignments. The program is a pass/fail course resulting in even more stress to students after a tumultuous 10-week summer semester and IPPE rotations. 

In the email Dr. Bellevue states that this new program was developed in response to the data obtained from Naplex in regard to the school’s performance data based on previous graduate students. This new stipulation is an unjust reflection of the previous class directed towards the class of 2024. 

The MCPHS Pharmacy Class of 2024 is petitioning the removal of this application course during their Summer P1 IPPE off block or possible changes to class set up including but not limited to; class accreditation, timing/ duration, requirements or class dates.
