EDIT: I just found out McNeese does offer laptop rentals to students. However many students and even faculty do not know about it. There is no information about this service online. Through this project, I would like to raise awareness of this service. Please sign this petition if you were not aware of this resource for students. 

The average laptop costs about $600 to $700. Tuition at McNeese for a Louisiana resident is about $4,500, and $7,000 for out of state students. This does not even include the cost of textbooks and other school supplies nor the cost of living. Many college students cannot afford the extra expense of a laptop. However, with such a shift towards virtual learning, a laptop is essential for all college students. The computers available in the library and computer labs are helpful but have their limitations. First, these places are not open 24/7 for students to access these computers. Second, a public space is not ideal for students who must attend a zoom meeting for their class. LSU, Northwestern, LA Tech, and Southeastern are just a few colleges in Louisiana that offer laptop rentals to students. I believe McNeese should adopt this system to help students without laptops. It would not only benefit students who cannot afford to buy a laptop, but also students who just need to borrow one for a short period of time. Please sign to support this cause.
