Christian Margita started this petition to McLean High School Languge Department

This school year, 2018-2019, at McLean High School the students of Ms. Jean Lewis’ Spanish 3 class have been consistently disappointed and disrupted in terms of our Spanish education as Señora Lewis has suddenly left for personal reasons. She left over the Winter break, it is now the 4th quarter for us and since that break we have had roughly 4 subs with 3 being long term subs (2 weeks or more). Currently we have a graduate student who is working towards becoming a Spanish teacher himself, there have been worries that as a grad student he may not be an ideal replacement for a fully certified Spanish language teacher. Since Señora Lewis has left our learning schedule has been difficult and inconsistent as we have had subs try to catch us up in days for what we missed after we have not done any work for weeks, this jump has been difficult for a multitude of students resulting in many students having bad or slipping grades and this to us, the students, does not seem fair. To have a final after what we have experienced throughout this year does not make sense to us and some concerned parents as we do not know what we missed or what things we will be needing to study for this final, we have also learned most material in a very short time frame making it hard for students to be able to fully develop these specific lingual skills. We are asking you to sign this position to have us not be required to take the Spanish 3 final this year for Ms. Jean Lewis’ class due to the inconsistency and impacts these events have had on our learning experience; this would be shown to our head of the language department and hopefully we, the students who have been most affected by these events,  may have a voice in this decision. Thank you for your time!
