Bring Back The Pep Rally Before The Tradition Disappears
Last year, we did not get to experience our pep rally that adds the final touch to hoco week. The current juniors, here at McIntosh, are the last that have even experienced the fun event, so once they are gone, no one will remember the powderpuff cheer routine or the chanting of the juniors and seniors that we all look forward to after our first pep rally freshman year. The pep rally is something that we all have looked forward to for so long, and the fact that we will not have it again after two years, and we have a new principle, leans us to the likelihood of not having them ever again. As a current senior, I have been looking forward to this pep rally since freshman year, and I know that many of you can relate. For those that have never experienced a pep rally at McIntosh, it is a key moment of homecoming week that really brings the student body together as a whole. The senior class of '22 has noticed that our student body has very little school spirit, and this is the way we bring it back and become one again. Ask anyone that has seen our pep rally, and they will tell you that it truly is a super fun, hyped experience; however, COVID is still a threat which is why the school is currently against the rally, but if we are able to host sporting events and have a whole graduation, why not have the pep rally outside? There are two sides of the field which makes the student body have to be louder and more involved, and it leaves more distance between individuals and classes. There is even more space for the activities that go on during the pep rally within the gym. There is nothing stopping us from having an outdoor rally.
