Cease the auction!

The Martinsville High School has decided to auction off "surplus" trophies that have been stored over the years to the highest bidder.
We believe that selling these trophies takes away the opportunity for today’s young people to experience both pride in, and, an attachment to past local achievements. It also steals from them the joy of feeling confident their accomplishments will be remembered and admired by future generations.
In the end, if the sale of our school history- those small, plastic and metal remnants representing the youthful hard work and dedication of our parents, ourselves, and our sons and daughters- continues as planned, then we, the community and alumni, will have NO ONE to blame for the loss of our school history but ourselves...the ball's in our court, what we decide to do from this day forward, until the day the auction ends, as an MCHS family, can make a difference!
We're asking for signatures to present at the June 21 school board meeting to halt the auction, to give the alumni the opportunity to present an alternate solution.
