Rob Tee started this petition to McDonalds and

The Government's Eat Out to Help Out scheme is designed to get the economy going and help our small business pubs, cafes and restaurants stay afloat.
However, the big four companies of McDonalds, KFC, Burger King and Subway, (as the queues when they reopened demonstrated), are in no danger of going bust.

Many of us enjoy these brands but with the majority of their business involving take-outs, few people would suggest these are restaurants in the usual sense of the word and by needlessly participating they are costing the taxpayer money and going against the spirit of what the scheme is designed to protect.

They are, of course, perfectly legally entitled to take part but we would like to see the profits they make from our taxes every Monday to Wednesday be used to help save our theatres, music venues and others involved in the arts industry.

Unlike, these huge franchise corporations, those providing shows and gigs are still unable to operate and are increasingly unlikely to do so as long as social distancing is a thing. Without more help, many long established theatres, artists, musicians, actors and venues are likely to go bust.

So this petition calls on this big four to donate the 50% they get back in tax subsidies to those who really need it. And if they lead, hopefully, other big chains who don't need the scheme might also be shamed to follow.
