It is emotionally scarring to children to subject them to blatant gender stereotypes. When a young girl wants to play with a Hot Wheel or a young boy with a Hello Kitty for example, they are shamed into thinking that they are abnormal because the toys are very specifically labeled BOY TOY and GIRL TOY.
Furthermore, parents unknowingly cooperate with this overt sexism by answering the question asked millions of times per day, "Girl toy or boy toy?"
The question should simply be (using the case mentioned above) "Do you want the Hot Wheel or the Hello Kitty toy?" allowing the child or parent to choose without the discrimination.
We know McDonald's is a progressive corporation and in no way intends these labels to do harm.
We feel strongly that the current practice is incongruent with McDonald's goal to be one that celebrates and accepts all people no matter what creed, color or gender.
Imagine how many disgruntled customers will return once they see that McDonald's has recognized and corrected this and is once again acting as the leader in their field.
