Petitioning Mc Donalds

Help persuade Mc Donalds to change slaughter methods

Each year, millions of chickens are killed for Mc Donalds. They are hung upside down by their feet and held by metal shackles. This often results in broken bones, extreme bruising and hemorrhaging. They often have their throats cut and are dragged through scalding water while they are still conscious and able to feel pain. We are demanding that Mc Donalds requires it's U.S and Canadian suppliers to switch its slaughter methods to a less cruel method called controlled atmosphere killing (CAK). This method is being used by Mc Donalds and other restaurant chains in other parts of the world. CAK puts chickens to sleep by replacing the oxygen in their crates to other gases. This method will eliminate most abuse the birds endure because slaughter house workers will not have the opportunity to handle live birds. In addition, the chickens will not have to feel the pain of the blade as it cuts their throats and they can’t be scalded alive.
