Why this petition matters
Through out the substantially important anti-racism movement, I believe that it's time we BETTER examine the psyche of police officers that are meant to serve as our protectors. As we know, it is mandatory to take part in a psychological assessment before being handed your badge. As we also know, these tests are NOT sufficient in questioning the morals of these officers, as we have seen that MANY are extremely racist, as well as inhumane in the ways that they treat our black brothers & sisters. This is repetitive behavior. I believe that ACCURATELY examining their true reasoning for aspiring to be cops could help charge progressive change, essentially giving the children of our generation a better, safer future. The time is now to come together. As an extremely ANTI-RACIST white man, I believe that the white community needs to step up, recognize their privilege, and educate themselves on black history to protect the ones that have had their rights stolen. The time is now to make a change, and I believe that the change starts with the people, as well as our police forces. It is vital to the black community that the police forces are ACCURATELY tested on their morals, their belief systems on right vs. wrong, as well as, most importantly, their stance on racial equality. I can not physically stomach seeing another innocent person be murdered on the basis of a SKIN COLOR. It is inhumane, it is wrong on every level possible. It's time for the PEOPLE to control who is hired to protect US. We know that there are people out there who will truly take the job for the sake of wanting to better society. We also know that there are people who aspire to be police officers on the basis of sheer superiority complexes, on the belief that they will be able to exercise white supremacy behind the protection of their badge. It is VITAL that we identify both, and get the RIGHT people in there.
