DOG PLAYGROUNDS

DOG PLAYGROUNDS
The intention of this petition is to encourage the Solihull council to provide more dog playgrounds at local parks. Also the refurbishment of the Shirley Park Dog Agility Area. This could include a large area of grass with agility equipment or water fountains for the dogs.
Since the lockdown there has been a spike in dog owners and gated areas primarily for dogs is a great idea, one agility area is currently in Shirley Park. However, the area is very small and very muddy all year round.
Providing these areas for dogs will be beneficial for both dog owners and those who do not like dogs. Dog owners will be able to go to the park with their dog and not worry about their dog running away if the dog's recall is not very good or if they are training a young puppy. Additionally, people who do not like dogs will not have to worry about dogs running up to them at the park. Even though the number of dogs is rising, the number of people who do not like dogs is also rising. Both dog owners and people who do not like dogs should be able to enjoy the park without worrying about their safety.
All public parks contain gated playgrounds for children in order to keep them safe and entertained at the park. A lot of dog owners, consider their dog to be their child so they also wish to keep them safe. A gated area for dogs will ensure the safety of dogs, this is especially important due to current situations where young puppies are being stolen from families at the park.
It is critical for these facilities to exist so dogs can be trained for our society.
