Raise the salary for Minden Police Officers

Minden's crime rate remains low and the salary for Minden police is among the worst in the state and the country. Minden has been labeled as the friendliest, safest city in the south. Why? It helps that we have dedicated and knowledgeable law enforcement officers who know the streets, the people on the them, and who is connected to who. Who is suppose to be here or not suppose to be there. Who is a local, who doesn't belong here because they arent recognized.
Minden Police Officers do a thankless job to keep our city safe. Unfortunately, our city's decision makers do not seem to support them. We need to increase the salary to maintain a healthy, fully staffed police force. A shocking 25% of the department have left to go to other departments to make more money. No applicants are applying to fill those empty positions is making the officers who have stayed work long, tiring overtime hours. The city has the money to pay for overtime but not pay our officers a better, competitive salary?! An exhausted officer makes it dangerous for himself, his fellow officers in blue, and the general public. The Minden Police pay is below the poverty line. Police are the backbone to a well functioned society and we will no longer sit by and watch trained, educated, experienced officers leave our city to go minutes up the road for more pay. If you live here, attend church here, shop here or have loved ones here, this affects YOU. Live in Doyline, Haughton, Dixie Inn, Springhill? Affects you too!
