Lakewood residents: You have the power to keep a unique, historical green space alive in our great city!  The Lakewood Equestrian Center provides so many benefits to us, to our children, and to our community, and it needs our voice right now.

The Lakewood City Council is considering eliminating the LEC – eliminating open, green space for our children to play and learn about empathy and responsibility through animals.
In the 1960’s, the City of Lakewood was nationally recognized for its parks and recreation programs.  When the stables were acquired by the city in 1980, it further expanded recreation opportunities unique to an urban environment.

Today, the LEC continues to provide the community with youth enrichment programs, programs for people with special needs, animal welfare programs, and a connection to Lakewood’s agricultural past that is quickly being erased.  Furthermore, with an increase in the use of technology, the LEC provides an oasis for families to unplug and reconnect with nature…and with each other.
If you want to preserve this oasis for you and your family, the Mayor is asking for at least 30,000 signatures (see article in the Press Telegram), and the number of signatures we get could sway their decision.

Please join us in signing this petition and asking the City of Lakewood to uphold its motto – Times Change. Values Don’t.
