Make Lakeside Drive a Safer Area for Families in Carrington Woods

The amount of traffic traveling between Jefferson Road and Columbia Street on Lakeside Drive is heavy and few drivers observe the posted speed limit of 25 miles per hour through our neighborhood. We can understand the need for secondary streets to connect major thoroughfares in our city and Lakeside Drive currently serves as a busy connector between these two major roadways. But, Carrington Woods is a residential neighborhood with many active families with young children who currently feel unsafe with cars traveling at speeds well beyond the posted speed limit. We would like to see the addition of a four way stop at the intersection of Lakeside Drive, Pine Valley Road, and Lakeshore Drive and a three way stop at the intersection of Lakeside Drive and Woodland Circle as well as the installation of speed bumps on Lakeside Drive on both ends of the curved section of Lakeside Drive. We feel that these improvements are necessary for the safety of the residents of this neighborhood and to serve as a deterrent to the high speed traffic that we experience in our neighborhood on a daily basis.
