Griffin Fox started this petition to Mayor Ted Denton

The recent Black Lives Matter movement has made it clear that systemic racism is present in almost all of our government institutions. Please join me in requesting change and defeating systemic racism at the local level, starting with the Rochester Police Department.

In my letter to Mayor Ted Denton and Rochester City Council members, I request that police work be divided amongst specially trained professionals to ensure a proper response to situations that require extensive training such as mental health crisis, domestic disputes, student misconduct, and more. I also suggest making this a reality by reallocating a portion of funds from the RPD to social workers, medical professionals, and independent organizations.

There is still a long way to go in the fight for racial equality and the end of systemic racism, and I believe change begins at the local level. This is a direct way for citizens of Rochester to support BLM one step at a time. Please share this petition with family, friends, and even co-workers - I’m counting on your help.
