Stop the California Board of Education from demolishing our lower mathematics system.
The California board of education is currently trying to remove all lower-level mathematics courses from California community colleges. This in turn means that students will be required to enter community college and take pre-calculus as the lowest level of math available to students, this decision also means that students are no longer able to enroll in MAPS (math with additional support) programs because of the change in lower mathematics education. Evidently leaving students with no hope in passing mathematics courses at community college due to the foundations of this course no longer being offered to its students. This would include students who did not complete high school and international students attending California educational systems. Students are at high risk of failing mathematics courses because of this decision and we need to change this before it's too late. The future of our students in mathematics lies in the hands of these lower-level math courses such as pre-algebra, elementary algebra, and intermediate algebra which are foundations to building onto higher math. Students are at risk of no longer being able to pass mathematics courses because of the removal of these classes and they are going to suffer dearly without these options available for them when enrolling.
