My 11 year old son suffers from mental health disorders. Recently I was told by my son's therapist to contact the Syracuse Police Department in a case of an emergency. The officer that responded to the call denied mental health help and was physically aggressive with my son. She swore at him several times. Made racial comments and threatened my son's life. The situation was uncalled for. The purpose of this petition is to make sure the Syracuse Police Department to improve their training on how to deal with children with mental health disorders. In hopes that myself or other families in our community don't have to go though what my son and I did.
