History

Since 2012 the Township of South Glengarry Mayor and Councillors have denied access to records, for example:

• Election Records
• My Property Assessment Records
• Statement of their Remuneration and Expenses

Instead of providing these records as required by law - they paid tens of thousands of dollars to a lawyer to deny access.

Why? Why not simply obey the law? Mayor, Councillors will you show taxpayers your remuneration and expenses?

Mayor Ian Mcleod, Deputy Mayor Frank Prevost, Councillors Lyle Warden, Trevor Bougie, Bill McKenzie, you know The Municipal Act states:

S 224 You must: ensure the accountability and transparency of the operations of the municipality. And: carry out other duties required under this or any Act and other duties assigned by the municipality.

S 284(1) You must show: Statements of remuneration and expenses of all elected officials including itemized statement on remuneration and expenses paid in the previous year; (3) local board members other reports

Public records

S 284 (4) Despite the Municipal Freedom of Information and Protection of Privacy Act, statements provided under subsections (1) and (3) are public records.

S 223.6 Accountability Transparency Reports of Integrity Commissioner and/or Local Boards

Voted to show expenses? TO DATE none of the above

Mayor Ian Mcleod, Deputy Mayor Frank Prevost, Councillors Lyle Warden, Trevor Bougie, Bill McKenzie, tell us, will you comply with your oath of office? 

Taxpayers: Stop repeat offenders. Don't re-elect them!
