Petition to
Mayor Sean M. Spiller and Township Council

Why this petition matters

Started by Dani Romano

We urge Mayor Sean M. Spiller and the Township Council to adopt Section 5:10-5.4(a) from the NJ Administrative Code which references Unsafe and Unsanitary Conditions. As residents of Montclair NJ, we deserve the same right to safe and sanitary homes and corridors as anyone else in the state of New Jersey. We should no longer be subjected to unhealthy, unsafe and unsanitary conditions by building management in the corridors of our homes in multi-family apartment buildings.

Section 5:10-5.4(a) states “Occupants shall place all garbage within the receptacles provided for garbage disposal. Where janitorial service is not required, they shall place all containers with sufficient frequency to avoid an insanitary accumulation in the exterior area or areas set aside for the same. Garbage, rubbish and other refuse shall not be thrown out of windows or down dumbwaiters, nor shall garbage and refuse be set out on stairways or fire escapes or in common hallways.”
