Dear Mayor Sandy Moriarty, Sedona City Council and Sedona Parks and Recreation Department

We, residents of Sedona and members of the Sedona Picklers, respectfully request that the City of Sedona prioritize the construction of dedicated pickleball courts for the Sedona Community.

  • Pickleball is one of the fastest growing sports in the world, and is played by people of all ages, including those with disabilities.
  • Sedona is behind the rest of Arizona in building dedicated courts.  Small towns such as Payson and Wickenburg  have dedicated courts.  Sedona has no dedicated pickleball courts.
  • Residents of Sedona currently share courts with tennis and basketball players at Sunset Park and Posse Grounds.  Pickleball is played 7 nights and 5 mornings per week with at least 80-120 people playing per week.  Hundreds more residents and visitors want to play, but do not have access because of the limited courts and time frames available to pickleball players.
  • Dedicated pickleball courts will achieve the vision of the Sedona Community Plan to make Sedona “a community that nurtures connections between people, and encourages a healthy lifestyle”
  •  Dedicated pickleball courts will also serve the goal of the Sedona Parks and Recreation Department “to  provide activities and amenities that allow for community interactions and encourage active and healthy lifestyles”.
  • Dedicated pickleball courts are part of the plans for the redevelopment of Brewer Park and Posse Grounds Park.  WE RESPECTFULLY REQUEST THAT THE CITY PRIORITIZE THE EXISTING PLANS TO BUILD DEDICATED PICKLEBALL COURTS.

Thank you for your consideration of this request.  Please contact sedonapicklers@gmail.com for more information.
