The San Jose Chicano Moratorium Resistance Council started this petition to Mayor Sam liccardo

Fellow gente/community we are trying to have the Thomas Fallon statue melted not stored or to be brought out years from now. It represents the U.S.'s unjust war with Mexico(Mexican War[1846-1848]). Despite what you've been taught in school, Mexico did NOT sell this land to the U.S. They invaded and plundered Mexico. Then stole California, Nevada, Arizona, New Mexico, Utah, Texas, parts of Colorado, Wyoming and Oklahoma from Mexico and then threw money in their faces all to expand slavery westward and the subsequent mass murder of Indigenous Nations. Manifest Destiny they called it. This statue is of Thomas Fallon, a captain in the U.S. Army that invaded California during the Mexican American war and planted his flag in San Jose, when California was still part of Mexico, claiming this land for the U.S. This was all when slavery was still legal and the U.S. government was run by only white men. Manifest Destiny was a white supremacist idea. That's what that statue represents: a white supremacist dream. Please, will you join us in this fight to have this statue melted?
