Preserve Spring Garden Park Green Space

Preserve Spring Garden Park Green Space
We the undersigned respectfully request the City to stop the proposed construction of a playground in Spring Garden Park (the "Park") located at the east end of Springbrook Gardens in Etobicoke. This undeveloped green space with its forest like feel is very unique in the GTA and provides an untouched, nature experience in the city - where something like this is rarely found. Wildlife (including deer, foxes, coyotes) are regularly spotted at this park that runs along Mimico Creek. Placing new facilities will drastically reduce this character and the quiet and peaceful enjoyment which residents, neighbours and visitors of all ages currently experience when attending the Park. This is incredibly important to local residents and many are distraught by the idea of changing this unique Park.
Currently, there are two beautiful, large, modern playgrounds for children within a 5 minute walk of this location(Fairfield Park and Lorahill Park). These 2 parks are never overcrowded. There is no need to add another one so nearby, at the cost of losing something unique and special like the existing Park.
Tax payers dollars could be better spent elsewhere to support neighbourhoods in need of playground facilities.
Thank you for your consideration and we look forward to hearing back from you.
