Mark Saunders is Toronto's current Chief of Police and has been since April 26, 2015. The first black Chief of Police for the city of Toronto and the second to head a police force in Canada. Toronto Police Association has brought a no confidence Vote on behalf of Mark Saunders despite his continuous and impeccable work as Chief of Police. Mark Saunders has dedicated his life to serving and protecting the citizens of Toronto, His fight for change within the Toronto Police Force will ensure a safer and better Police presence in our City. Mark has an Honours Bachelor of Applied Science in Justice Studies and many years in the police force. This vote is a horrendous disservice to our City and as Citizens we need to voice our outrage. Mark has had kidney failure since the start of his leadership, was on dialysis everyday, until a recent kidney transplant and despite the pain associated with this, Mark went to work everyday making tough decisions to ensure our safety as his main priority. Performing his duties professionally and meticulously, putting his health secondary. Mark genuinely cares for his City, knew he could make a difference by implementing changes to a stagnant outdated system because of his years in the force. A modernized Dispatching System, Diversity within the force, More yet better trained Police officers - and so much more. Proper change takes time and Mark will get it done. WE came first, The City of Toronto came first and now to have his professional success and work ethic questioned is appalling. We stand with Mark Saunders Toronto's Chief of Police!!!
