Building a Dog Park Near the Roundhouse Park, Entertainment District in Downtown Toronto
Due to a lack of dog parks near the neighborhood in the Toronto Entertainment District and a big concentration of dog owners living in this area, it is inconvenient for dog owners to walk dogs or have socialization with other dogs in a tight daily schedule. For example, the closest dog park from the area stated above is Canoe Landing Park (City Place Dog Park) in Fort York Community, which is a 17min walk one way. Thus, to have dogs properly exercised, dog owners prefer walking their dogs in the nearby Roundhouse Park, turf area in the Harbourfront Center, and the green space in front of Westin Hotel, all of which are not designed for dog utilization. However, all are used by dog owners three to four times a day for dog walking purposes. Also, it is inconvenient for non-dog owners, such as family with young children to have unleashed dogs around. So we propose a change, to have the City of Toronto build a dog park near the Roundhouse Park area, for easier access for dog owners, dogs and non-dog owners living near this area.
