As a part of our local celebration of Juneteenth this year, we would like to make an impact by bringing awareness to the injustice of African-Americans that has taken place locally and nationally. As a part of a solution, we are requesting Black Lives Matter to be painted on a Street in Downtown Binghamton as a Paint Party for Local Artists and other patrons to participate in. By getting approval it would show the unity that our city would like to carry moving forward and the equal rights of all community residents.

The places that have already completed this have been Oakland, California, Charlotte, North Carolina, Albany, New York, and Dallas, Texas. The change we would like to see within Binghamton needs to take place with creative activities such as this one because it allows our community to get to know one another and show unity to the future generations growing up here. It's important to have Art as an outlet during these difficult times of injustice. Art also allows people to cope and heal from the trauma that we have been experiencing for so long.

Other Artists have been looking for an opportunity to express themselves through creativity because there are some who have more emotions bottled up than others. This would be a great opportunity to show the different perspectives of what Black Lives Matter means to so many people within our community. The impact that this will create an open up limitless possibilities for many others to make a change in this world, but first starting with their local community.
