Plastic straws are used virtually everywhere. They are used in restaurants, fast food eateries and they are even sold at grocery stores. But what is the big deal about a few straws? America uses 500 Million straws in 24 hours that is one whole day. By the year 2050 the ocean will have more plastic than fish. Some people might not think there are alternatives to cheaper plastic, however they're have been plenty of biodegradable, reusable, and compostable straws made to battle the leading plastic straws. You might think this doesn't affect us because its something you do not see everyday, nonetheless it pollutes our beaches, our lakes, and our rivers. We can make a change by converting from plastic straw use to paper straws or by simply not using straws as much or buy a reusable washable straw. These are a few changes we can make in our community to stop plastic from killing our sea life and polluting our oceans.
