To put it simply, the street that is currently named Emanuel Cleaver II Boulevard, honoring former mayor and current congressperson Emanuel Cleaver II, is too gender specific. Therefore, I petition the Kansas City Street Naming Committee and Kansas City Mayor Quinton Lucas to consider changing the name of this historic street. The new name should continue to honor the great service of Emanuel Cleaver II to Kansas City, while also ensuring that the citizens who use the street will not be triggered by the gender specificity in the name. Suggestions for the new name include, but are not limited to:
