Preserve Billy Rogers Arroyo Park Nature Preserve
The Billy Rogers Arroyo Park Nature Preserve is one of El Paso's few remaining undeveloped arroyos and urban nature preserves. For generations families have enjoyed the arroyo in it's natural state with walking trails, bike trails, ramps and jumps designed and built by nature without any need for human intervention and construction. For decades bikers of all ages have enjoyed and appreciated the arroyo as nature intended.
The jump line or "The Dunes" as long standing residents have referred to the area have provided safe and exciting recreational opportunities to park visitors for decades. And thanks to mother nature, a new set of trails and challenges is offered every season after heavy rain.
The arroyo should be maintained in its natural state without any added infrastructure of manmade mountain bike ramps and bridges that detract from the natural beauty of the arroyo. Park partners should continue to work to preserve the arroyo in it's natural state and maintain the existing trails for the benefit of all visitors as they have done for decades.
This installation sets a bad precedent that only promotes further development within designated nature preserves within our city.
