We are petitioning Mayor Palmer and Council to:
1. Discuss alternatives to the huge 36sqm roofs planned in two locations at Shoal Bay NSW Waterfront, destroying our iniqueness, blocking views & openess which is why people cherish Shoal Bay
2. Present a Visual Impact Report of plan (Vision/Heat and Reflection)
3. Present a CPTED Crime Prevention Through Environment Design Report of plan
Please help us keep an open, beautiful, unique view at Shoal Bay. Two large skillion roofs reaching 3.15m high and 36sq m over picnic tables are set for construction to block the view, similar to a billboard. Tourists stay for our beautiful view, it is a draw card for our restaurants and many residents have lived here for decades and love their view! Shade roofs would be best on the smaller picnic tables being less intrusive. (Council did not follow due process advising of measurements during planning)
We ask that Council follow
Section 8. Photomontage to show contexual impact;
Section 13. Site Analysis, views from site and adjoining land;
Section 32. View Corridors, survey data prepared by registered surveyor demonstrating impact and
Section 33. Visual Impact Assesement, where developement presents significant bulk.
It is encumbent of Council to follow due process. The Mayor after internal discussions has offered a meeting after the structure is erected....to see of it can be changed at that point. (Locals are not in agreeance with this, if a ratepayer constructed a building then sought discussion and approval by Council, it would be not be acceptable!)
Help support over 30 key stake holders in the waterfront at Shoal Bay, restaurants, business owners, Air B&B's and residents alike making Shoal Bay that special place to visit. Be sure to view the before photo and estimated impact visual. Thanking You on behalf of all those impacted for your consideration and signature.
