Why have cameras in Chicago neighborhoods if not helpful to solve cases

My nephew an innocent 19 year old was shot and killed on August 2, 2018 while walking a dog.  A good kid about to begin college in a few weeks was killed  by senseless gun violence. He is one of the many innocent young kids being taken from their mothers and family yet the city of Chicago has cameras in neighborhoods for safety and to record these episodes yet here I am 12 days after the incident and no answers, no leads, no one in custody!  Why is our tax money being used for cameras that don’t help solve cases and catch murderers of innocent victims of senseless gun violence.  I want justice for my nephew and safer communities specially by a park where this incident happened.
