After weeks of protesting for the injustice that black lives have been facing in this country by law enforcement the mayor of Tampa, Jane Castor approved a “Blue Lives Matter” street art mural to be painted in Downtown Tampa. As protestors we have been beat, maced, tear gassed, shot with rubber bullets, have had flash bombs thrown at us, and arrested while peacefully protesting. As many of us have been begging for justice in the killing of black Americans all around the country and even locally for the murder of Jonas Joseph who was murdered during a traffic stop by Tampa PD in April. This mural seems to mock the Black Lives Matter movement and is a huge slap in the face for all the protesting we have been doing all over this country. Do black lives not matter to you Jane Castor?
