The reasons given for housing a large portion of the north islands homeless are for the wrong reasons and it is detrimental to Rotorua as a whole and it's citizens safety and well-being.
It's a financial disaster as well as poor governance which should never have been allowed to happen

I agree this problem needs to be addressed by the RDC. They should never been placed in Our Golden Mile. Tourists will stop coming to stay in these motels.

I have sadly seen people traumatised, by homeless people, that have been brought in to Rotorua. Our own people from Rotorua who are homeless are suffering. Its not fair to them and not fair to us as a community in fact it’s increasing homelessness when competing for a home.

Putting homeless in motels isn't the solution. There needs to be a long term plan which includes more social housing built.

Our town no longer feels safe. I regularly see or hear violent behaviour across the road from where I work, and throughout the town. I have had four incidences of cars being broken into directly outside my home (in a perceived good neighborhood....but too close to the motels) and my home was previously robbed by people who were paid to move out of Auckland (MSD) and moved into a motel nearby, these same people were responsible for many burglaries in the neighbourhood. This has cost me financially and in my whanau feelings of safety, and I now have had to alarm my home, and we can't even park outside our own home...very sad indeed. I feel like moving away regularly, but was born and raised, have a big whanau here, and my mother and grandparents are also from here, so why should I have to move to feel safe again. I hate going to local stores/dairys and feeling unsafe with behaviours there,......though cynical me notices these people and behaviours are not outside the local district councillors store...(yes I said it publically ) I know this is not about all homeless people and not the majority, and housing, social and drug issues lie just below all of this, but our town cannot cope with increasing numbers, the strain on our system is too great. Enough is enough!

I'm sick of the crime as a result of these people. I've been the target of abuse for not giving money to two drunks abs now my number plate was stolen in the carpark at the central mall
