Lakeview Neighborhood Watch started this petition to Housing Development Corporation

The Lakeview Neighbourhood Watch Group (LNWG) has been setup to mobilise the Lakeview Housing Development community in reducing crime on the Lakeview Estate in Point Fortin. The LNGW aims to promote and foster initiatives that could discourage criminal elements from targeting the community in a manner that is non-confrontational and within the law.

In the last 4-6 months there has been a heightened and active criminal presence in Lakeview Estate, with the pink buildings bearing much of the brunt of these thefts and intrusions.

The LNWG would like to appeal to the relevant agencies assist the community in implementing the basic measures that can help the community and the Point Fortin Police Department in reducing and ultimately eliminating crime in the area.

The LNWG has canvassed the members of the community and the following are the areas that must be addressed urgently:

Build a perimeter fence on the open boundaries or allow residents to fence individual properties.

Repair two non-functioning street lights at the end of streets beginning with units 40a and 41a respectively.

Install street lights in dark open area in front of unit 40D. This area extends to the Heritage tank farm.

Install floodlighting in crime hotspots on the boundary with Warden road.

Cut the shrub area on the boundary of Lakeview Estate and Warden Road.

Install street or flood lighting in the open grassed area behind unit 48c. This area is  exceptionally dark at night.

Replace galvanised fence surrounding HDC storage facility with a secure high wired fence through which the community can observe intrusions and raise an alarm if necessary.
